Mechanical and Electrical Services for the new teaching block

Scope of project

The project comprised the design and build of mechanical and electrical services required during the refurbishment works in the new build teaching block.

Alpine Works’ services included the incoming electrical supply, new mains distribution, sub-mains distribution and metering. The new lighting installation included emergency lighting, external lighting and small power services. We installed a new fire alarm and security system which also included intruder alarm, access control and CCTV. A public address system along with telephone and data communications were also part of the package. The mechanical scope of works included the following components: Heating Systems, Ventilation, Domestic Water Services, Mains Services, Comfort Cooling, Automatic controls and Associated Wiring.  BMS Controls, associated equipment and Network Connections were also fundamental to the package. LTHW Heating Plant and Distribution, Dirty Extract Ventilation, Twinned Extract Ventilation Systems, Heat Recovery Ventilation unit to form a combined mechanical and electrical project.

Challenges

A new build is always a less complexed process than a building with existing infrastructure. The challenge that we had with this project was coordinating the mechanical and electrical installations so that we could provide the necessary commissioning and training within the construction programme.
