Compliance

Electrical testing

The benefits of working in a safe environment are obvious. What is not always obvious is the full extent of the tasks that must be carried out to ensure that safety – to protect your staff, customers and the public and to ensure that you comply with all legal and H&S requirements.

AWL can provide you with portable appliance testing; fixed appliance testing (something that is often overlooked); and fixed wiring electrical testing (also referred to as ‘condition reporting’ – previously called ‘periodic testing’), an important inspection of your building’s wiring structure and maintenance.

These tests will highlight any existing or potential problems you may be unaware of, ensuring your legal compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations Act 1989, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition as amended). They will reassure you and your employees that your electrical system is safe and importantly, they will satisfy your insurance obligations too.

Cleaning and re-lamping light fittings

Whatever your lighting scheme, regular cleaning and attention is needed to ensure not only maximum energy efficiency but also compliance with statutory requirements around light levels in the workplace. Lighting systems are often overdesigned to accommodate an expected lack of cleaning. A US study* has shown that if cleaning became a regular part of lighting maintenance, lighting systems could be downsized, resulting in considerable savings. Let us help you take care of this routine but essential part of your maintenance regime.

Emergency lighting testing and maintenance

Whether you have many buildings or just one, emergency lighting requires monthly and annual inspection to ensure that it is fully operational. We will draw up a periodic schedule for testing and maintenance that meets your needs, so you can rest assured that your emergency lighting system is always fully compliant. See here for further information.

Mechanical Services maintenance

Working with carefully-selected specialist partners, we can provide a complete range of maintenance services for commercial and industrial buildings, 24-hours a day. Services are tailored to meet your individual requirements for all heating, ventilation & air conditioning, water and facilities requirements.

Management information

We have considerable experience in the production of management information: to enable you not only to track the costs and expenses incurred but also help you demonstrate compliance too.

We will capture data in Microsoft SharePoint, develop specifically-tailored reports that can be analysed using Microsoft Excel (or compatible spreadsheet programs) and made available using Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) sites where our clients can view live, up-to-date data at any time. Increasingly, our customers will rely on their own CAFM (computer-aided facilities management) tools to report and analyse the myriad of data available to them: if wished we will work with the CAFM system of your choice.
