Apprenticeships

At Alpine Works, our people truly are our most important asset – we would not have a business without highly-trained, skilled and motivated personnel.

With around 60 employees in total, it is important to us to invest in the future. That is why we are proud of our four-year apprenticeship scheme – and with two new apprentices taken on each year, we have around eight being trained at any one time.

Naturally, we are looking for the brightest and most promising candidates, aged 18-plus. We require 5 GCSE passes at grade ‘C’ or above, two of which must be in English and Mathematics – science subjects would be welcomed too. We then ask our candidates to sit a general knowledge test and an interview designed to assess their potential, aptitude and skills: scored against outcome-based criteria.

We always welcome suitable local candidates and also work closely with training providers and sponsors such as JTL, which offers government-supported apprenticeships in the electrical and engineering sector, or our local technical college, Carshalton College. If you are accepted for an apprenticeship with us, you will spend time at college on day-release, where you will work first towards a City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 and develop wider job-related and functional skills.

After this, you will work towards an NVQ Level 3, where you will receive training and practical experience – the sort that will help you understand our methods, resources and procedures. The period of training is designed to enable you to gain experience across various disciplines, whilst allowing you to specialise in those areas that interest you most and where you display the most aptitude.

Our apprenticeships are aimed at preparing you for a problem-solving career – ideal if you enjoy understanding how electrical technology works. Whichever part of the business you work in, you will enjoy the same excellent support – and for the right candidates, there is the chance to pursue further qualifications too.

Experienced Personnel

In addition to apprentices, we are also always on the look-out for experienced candidates to join our team. Recently we have taken on qualified electricians, approved electricians and contracts managers.

We have a policy to promote from within up to contracts manager level, so if you join us and you have the potential to progress, you are not limited in what you can achieve.

So, if you are a fully-qualified and trained electrician and believe you have something to offer us, why not contact us? Even if we have no opportunities at present, we may ask to keep your details on file in the event of future vacancies.
